From the earliest days of computing, programmers have tackled the challenge of creating machines that can emulate human thought. As computers have become more powerful and programming techniques have changed, the ability of machines to demonstrate ‘intelligence’ has increased significantly. In the latest approaches to artificial intelligence, machines can learn by themselves. Some people believe that it may not be long until self-taught machines will become more intelligent than humans.
